Fighting Gully Road Smiths Vineyard Chardonnay 2022
$85.00
Smith’s is one of the great Australian chardonnay vineyard’s and Mark Walpole can seemingly do no wrong with this or any other varietal. Super expressive, impressive from the get go with white flowers, cream, grapefruit, pink lady apple, chocolate orange and gorgeous oak. Linear and focused, the flesh on rails of tangy acidity, dry extract and fleshy, sumptuous fruit. A whirlpool of citrus and orchard fruit, pristine and pure, with savoury oak buffeting. A wine that ticks all boxes of tension, harmony, length and drive, yet you can drink this from now and at least 2 decades. Waters Wine Co
From vines planted in 1978, fermented and matured for 18 months in new and used French oak, partial mlf. The power, intensity and depth of the wine comes from the low yield of these venerable vines. Ripe white nectarine/peach is offset by grapefruit pith and flinty acidity. Producer’s notes
