Pale lemon. A leaner stricter nose after the comparative opulence of Sécher. Then gorgeous ripe lemon zest, flavours, which fill the mouth then refine to a clean pure long finish. Deep limestone marls here retained enough humidity. Very long, very classic, great wine. 95 Points – Jasper Morris
The 2019 Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons is one of the more expressive wines in the range at this early stage, wafting from the glass with notes of lime zest, crisp stone fruit, freshly baked bread and subtle hints of nutmeg. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and precise, it’s a lively, penetrating wine that will offer a broad drinking window. The Vaillons comes from holdings where the soils are deeper than in Séchet, and that shows in greater textural plentitude. 93 Points – Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate

When Laurent Tribut married Marie-Clotilde Dauvissat he joined one of Chablis’ most famous winemaking families. René Dauvissat, Marie’s father, gave the couple parcels of excellent sited Chablis AC and 1er Cru to establish Domaine Tribut (Dauvissat).
The small Domaine now has 7 hectares of vineyards. The Chablis AC is predominantly situated on Kimmeridgian soils adjacent to the Dauvissat vineyards. Laurent, a humble and good-natured vigneron, prefers the vineyards to be farmed as naturally as possible with a minimum of treatments and organic philosophies. Harvesting is always done by hand.
In the early days Laurent made his wines at his in-laws, the Dauvissat cellars, so naturally his own wines have been strongly influenced by these legendary examples. The wines are fermented exclusively en cuve (in tank) and racked into barrel for aging. Laurent typically only buys new oak if he needs to replace old barrels, some of which are 50 years old. With his retirement in 2019 Laurent’s children Solange, Adeline and Gabriel have now taken the helm, each specialising in different aspects of the business.
The Tribut Chablis’ share many stylistic similarities with their famous relatives. The wines offer immediate appeal with a rich texture and lovely lemony fruit notes, white spice and vibrant underlying minerality; yet are deeply concentrated with dense though not heavy structures, that age and develop into very complex wines. Compared to Dauvissat they have a little extra generosity, especially when young. In a lot of ways, they share more in common with the classic White Burgundy appellations of the Côte de Beaune than Chablis. Old bottles never disappoint.
The international press and Burgundy-philes are starting to wake up to this important producer despite the absence of Grand Cru in the range. Many believe their Premier Crus to be better than the average quality level of Grand Crus anyway.

The 2018 Meursault Le Limozin wafts from the glass with notes of ripe pear, orange rind, hazelnuts and sourdough. On the palate, it’s medium to full-bodied, elegantly textural and lively, with a broader attack than the more incisive Chevalières, concluding with a saline finish. 90-92 points, William Kelly, The Wine Advocate Outstanding. Top Value. A […]

Pale lemon colour, a little more flesh on the nose, pleasingly rounded, very stylish. Buy this without question. With time in the glass the Chablis minerality shows as well as the pleasing flesh.” 89 points, Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy […]
Add to cart Producer: Bernard Defaix2023 is a great vintage across Tasmania covering all varietals. Sourced from vines planted in 1987, the juice is whole bunch pressed into French oak, 10% new, for 9 months. Quite a contemporary style with tangy grapefruit, citrus, white flowers, cream and subtle oak. Lively, and zesty, with unctuous fruit, reductive notes, oak and zingy […]
Add to cart Producer: MeadowbankThe lieux-dit of Les Chevalieres is situated above the village of Meursault. Above is the lieux-dit of Les Luchets, which produces a higher toned, more tensile wine. I can’t help but think that this is ideally situated, in a sense, mid-slope, the perfect aspect in Burgundy. Impossibly complex, with notes of white flowers, lemon, lime, […]
