The 2021 Monument lives up to its name (having previously been labelled “La Colline”). This is a great Semillon, perhaps a step up from the 2020. Yellow plum and honeysuckle intermingle with dried apricot and a very light, cereal-like note on the nose. The palate is well balanced with a slight flor-like note on the entry. It comes with a fine spine of acidity and yellow fruit mixed with stem ginger on the persistent finish. Give this three or four years in bottle. Drink 2022-2040. 93 points, Neal Martin – Vinous
Chris Alheit normally uses grapes from two parts of the legendary, south-facing La Colline vineyard for Monument, but in 2021 they all came from the top of the slope. Showing the balance of its old-vine source (planted in 1936 or possibly earlier), this combines leesy weight with notes of fynbos and green herbs, subtle skin tannins and an intense, stony core. Drink 2023-2030. 97 points, Tim Atkin MW – South Africa Special Report

Sensual and suave, with flavours I haven’t found in a Vat 1 before. Just when I thought I knew what to expect! Preserved lime, fresh lemon, cream, kiwifruit, gardenia and honeysuckle. Subtle and very young. This seems quite open, but I feel this will shut down soon and be the better for it. A wonderful […]
Add to cart Producer: Tyrrell'sClassic Tasmanian pinot noir from a great year. Complex red summer fruits. Floral, roses and lavender, with sweet and savoury spice, compost, pine needles and smoke. Plenty of volume and shape, the fruit succulent and juicy – balanced by darker, savoury elements. So much textural flavour complexity, the wine a shape shifter in the glass. […]
Add to cart Producer: MeadowbankFrom 0.146 ha of vines planted in 1986 which were purchased by Jean-Louis. “Has a lifted mineral nose with subtle scents of honeysuckle and almond, certainly endowed with the vigour one expects from this vineyard. The palate is fine, harmonious and svelte on the entry. This is a Perrieres demonstrating typical fine mineral nuance, though […]
Add to cart Producer: Jean-Louis Chavy2022 is another great Hunter vintage. Fleshy, citrus fruit – lemon zest and juicy lime. Classic Hunter Semillon with a softer edge, making this an earlier drinking beauty but one that will still cellar for a decade or more. Waters Wine Co Sourced from a small selection of Tyrrells’ favourite Semillon blocks, the grapes […]
