A great vintage for By Farr Chardonnay, although every vintage seems pretty great! The lusciousness and richness is dialled up, without any loss of freshness. Creamy with cashew, yellow peach, spring jasmine, wood spice and nougat beautifully interwoven. A wine for flavour fetishists, utterly palate coating. Textured, with dry extract – the mid palate, bursting with flesh, curve and vigour. How do they do it, year in, year out? Waters Wine Co
The trademark characteristics of the wine produced on our site are understated power and length with a mineral finish. The wine has a great fruit expression that is well integrated with French oak. The soil characteristics have come through in the style of wine we have today. The palate is fine but firm, with great acidity, texture and length. This wine is rich in flavour, yet very refined.
The By Farr chardonnay comes from the same site as the Sangreal pinot noir—composed of red soil over limestone—and was planted in 1994. The limestone of this site is not exposed on the surface as at other sites. The limestone starts 20 to 30cm below the surface, to the depths of the root zone of the vines. It is a very exposed north-facing slope. The clones used for the chardonnay are a mixture of Dijon clones and Penfolds 58. Winemaker’s Notes

Producer: By FarrA great vintage for this wine and a classic, contemporary expression of Yarra Valley Chardonnay. Expressive and packed with energy. White peach, jasmine, nectarine, lemon zest and grapefruit. Very fresh style, but softer and not as high pitched as the single vineyards. Terrific value. Waters Wine Co An even split of upper and lower […]

Sourced from John and Josie D’Aloisio’s vineyard located high up on the hill above the township of Seville. The I10V1 clone Chardonnay was planted in 1991 on its own roots (non-grafted) and is grown on the stunningly rich red volcanic soils this subregion of the Yarra Valley is famous for. Bottled in early July this […]

Reductive notes of struck match, green apple, white peach , grapefruit, sweetened condensed milk, citrus blossom and white flowers. Cool tasting, spicy and long. A wine of linear shape and great drive. Some chalky minerality on the close adding textural, […]
